Research

and Health

The objective of WP3 is to develop a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). This will be done through the identification of gaps, obstacles and weaknesses in the development of an appropriate pandemic preparedness response, and based on a multidisciplinary “one-health” approach. The SRIA will contain a coordinated and integrative plan for research and operational research response to increase knowledge on pandemic preparedness as well as a multidisciplinary research preparedness and response strategy for EU countries, created in collaboration with existing European global strategies and structures. WP3 will also capitalize on European infrastructures and networks and ensure that the finalized SRIA is supported by follow-up activities promoting cooperation between European initiatives and all interested stakeholders in the field of pandemic preparedness. The final draft will integrate the one on Tech Research and on Innovation, developed in the frame of the WP4 to constitute the overall SRIA for pandemic preparedness.

WP3

Goals

Identification of needs, research gaps, obstacles and weaknesses in the development of appropriate preparedness and response to pandemics

Identify the lessons learned from previous endemics/pandemics using different methods of analysis and considering the breadth of disciplines as well as the aspect of infrastructure capacity.

Develop a strategic research plan to be implemented in between epidemics/pandemic

Provide the basis for the alignment of research agendas and capacity building priorities that can be achieved through the development, adoption and maintenance of an integrative SRIA, forming the basis for future research activities.

Develop a highly flexible, fast response research action plan to be implemented during epidemics/pandemics crisis

Define a clear scope and the conditions necessary for carrying out research activities as well as prepare for research to be performed at the time of crisis.

Collect inputs and sketch the outlines and contents of the overall SRIA

Bring together the strategic research plan to be implemented between epidemics and the flexible and rapid response research action plan to be implemented in times of epidemic/pandemic crisis.
